2/14/05- Frankie Taylor Update _______

After experiencing a horrific crash a few weeks ago in Houston, fellow racer Frankie "Mad Man" Taylor sheds some light on to what happened in the incident, and what his future plans are.

"Oh boy where to start. The crash. I went out about 60/80 ft & shook the tires the car moved towards the center line about 3 ft from the center line. I rode the line about 300 ft when I put the car in high gear it made a hard right and that's when it got ugly. I chopped the throttle and the back of the car lifted up and flipped over and hit the wall. As I was sliding upside down I pulled the chutes & lock up the brakes (brakes don't work with tires not on ground & boy Frank the painter is going to be MAD @ me). Josh did a good job of avoiding me when I was out of control. I wanted to THANK the SAFETY people for helping me get out. THANK ALL OF YOU !!!

After I got out is when I realized what has happened. I tore up all my stuff...

Any normal person would cry like a baby. As I looked out the ambulance with tears in my eyes (looking away so nobody could see) trying to hold it all together so my family & friends wouldn't see how bad this hurt not physically but emotionally.

We took the car back to the trailer to see how bad it was and start taking it apart. Sunday while getting ready to go back to the track to get the truck&trailer and to watch the other teams test, Jim Oddy called to see how I was. He told me to take my car to Jeffers to fix it right & if I did he would take care of the first 5000. THANKS ODDY !

Monday we talked to Jeffers and headed his way with the car. On the way to Jeffers, Charles from California called and offered me his '68 Camaro to drive at some of the races. We are still talking with Charles about driving his car at some races because our schedule has so many races (NHRA,ADRL,TOPMA,Super Chevy, and IHRA). We feel it will be easier to run when we have a legal race and then an outlaw race. After we got to Jeffers shop he said it is repairable but why because the cost of repairs would be a good down payment on a new car. We can use the Santhuff shocks and struts and rear end housing out of the wrecked car. So we decided the best thing to do is build a new '58 Corvette with a flat promod style wing.

Thursday night after we got home from Jeffers, he called me and told me what Mike Ashley had done for me. WOW!!! To have friends like that!!! I may not have much money but when it comes to family and friends I am probably one of the richest guys in the world."
